The principal mission of the Computational Life and Medical Sciences Network is to make UCL a world-leader in computational science applied to biology and medicine. Over the course of its three year lifetime, the Computational Life and Medical Sciences Network has the following goals:

  1. Enable UCL to maintain and expand its world-leading position in life and biomedical sciences, and to promote the applications of integrative approaches to those disciplines
  2. Improve research collaboration within UCL, with UCLP and the NHS, UK-CMRI, Yale, and the rest of the world
  3. Allow UCL to take advantage of new UK Research Council, EU and other current and future initiatives in, and emphasis on, integrative biomedical systems science, including the virtual human
  4. Improve collaboration with industry and, in collaboration with the Office of Vice Provost (Enterprise), the creation of commercial spin-offs to exploit business and commercial opportunities, and to promote the licensing of UCL intellectual property
  5. Plan for the next stages of activity in computational life and medical sciences at UCL and liaise with and advise the Vice Provosts for Health and of Research on the most suitable way to carry these forward
